Essay (take home)
Write a two-page, typed, double spaced essay about what changes you would make to the United States Constitution regarding the latest presidential scandals. Your essay should reflect an understanding of the balance of power outlined by the Constitution. You must explain and defend your opinion. Grammar and spelling count only in so much as they distract the reader. However, the English language is a noble institution and you should take pride in using it correctly. Here are some thoughts to consider:
- Should the Independent Council become a fourth branch of the government or should it remain under the authority of the Justice Department in the executive branch?
- Should there be limitations on the amount of time Congress can spend debating certain issues?
- Should the President be protected from being taken to court while in office?
- Should the Independent Council be elected or appointed?
