Jon Loomis's Collector's Guide to Rota-Kiwan Scout Reservation Patches
The Rota-Kiwan Scout Reservation, formerly known as the Rota-Kiwan Boy Scout Camp, is located in Texas Corners, Michigan just west of Kalamazoo and Portage. It was founded in 1921 on the shores of Bass Lake. At the time the only building on camp was an old summer cottage that had been used by the former property owners. That cottage still stands today overlooking the lake near the Cub Scout area and is known as the Bass Lake Cabin. Visit it sometime, it is rather historic. Over the years the scouts who visited Rota-Kiwan each summer were awarded patches. Here is my guide to those patches. I'm sorry to relate that there are some holes in my collection, but then again, whose collection won't have some holes?
